Two Choices for The Active Person: Floor Hockey and Slo-Pitch in Canada

If you’re reading this, then you’ve probably been looking for some ways to entertain yourself by taking up a sport. Some of the most popular sports for amateurs are floor hockey and slo-pitch, perfect for those who want to spend a few hours a week with people who share the same passion. Let’s see a few guidelines on what to expect when playing these.

Floor hockey is a version of ice hockey which is played on flat surfaces, on a sports court most usually. The rules of the game are the same as in hockey; the two teams have to score goals with the use of special curved sticks. While many street versions of hockey appeared throughout the history of this game, floor hockey is more structured and you can play in shoes instead of skates. It was the British who invented the sport during the 1950’s, in Canada. Although initially played by men, the game soon became popular for women as well, and today we have leagues which are both co-ed and separate. Usually, a match will last an hour, with three game intervals of 20 minutes each. This is enough time to exercise and put your blood in motion, so playing this sport will certainly make you feel healthier and more energized.

Slo-pitch is vastly popular among women, but anyone can play it. This is a relatively easy game similar to baseball. While it does require some running, hitting, throwing and catching, it still remains really fun, and the great part is that you get to meet lots of new people. You can convince some of your friends or relatives to register as a member in an amateur league and share the enjoyment with your close ones. There are just so many benefits to playing sports than any number of pages on the subject would not suffice. Discover them yourself.
